Copper prices have been elevated lately, sitting at around $3.88, so we thought it would be a great time to go over so more copper items your typical scrap yard will take.
First, let’s look at copper aluminum radiators! These rads are made up of around 47%-48% copper and 52%-53% aluminum and are mainly used as heat exchangers in automobile cooling systems.
They are made up of copper tubes and aluminum fins. The tubes carry the coolant, while the fins provide a larger surface area for transferring of heat.
Next, we got electric motors! These are made up of around 8% copper and the rest is just pretty much steel. They are to power a bunch of different things like fans, pumps, vehicles, appliances, and industrial equipment.
Finally lets take a look at brass, so there is two different types of brass, red and yellow. Red brass consists of around 85% copper and yellow brass consists of around 70% copper and right now we are paying the same price for both types of brasses at $2.05!
